We do not regularly rent cars for people who are traveling. So if you need a rental car, please make a special point to notify the travel coordinator when requesting travel arrangements. Please keep in mind that it is our general practice to rent an economical option. So this is not your chance to finally drive a Porsche; expect something more along the lines of Ford Focus or Kia Rio.
Insurance: The insurance issue for rental cars is a little complicated. Most of us do not regularly drive in cities; which makes it really important to be certain you have the right level of insurance.
- If you have a company American Express, it carries an insurance provision for collision and loss of use.
- When possible, please make sure AmEx is used for the reservation rather than a Visa.
- If you are using a Visa to rent the car, you have to get physical damage coverage. If you don’t, any claims will default back to your personal insurance; which you don’t want to have happen.
- For domestic rentals WPG is covered for liability through HUB
- For international rentals, you must purchase the local liability.
- International rentals must be pre-approved by management.
